What will Financialjoe do for me?
Financialjoe connects you to other investors who have the same goals, risk tolerance, and objectives. You are tagged to your advisor’s other clients and can see the portfolios he creates for them, and how they perform. Not to mention, how they feel about his services. Once you take the "Risk Tolerance" questionnaire to learn if you're an aggressive, moderate, or conservative investor you will be tagged to everyone else with the same goals. This will allow you to compare your portfolio(s) against theirs and have a benchmark to gauge performance.  No more guessing or wondering. If you're not happy, you can monitor other advisors and see how their clients feel about them, and the performance of their recommended portfolios.

What kind of accounts can I create?
Several! You can create an account that your financial advisor(s) manages, a self-directed, 401k, or a fantasy account to see if you can beat the pros. Just so you know- if you create a new account/portfolio after the current day’s market close, it will update the following day at the close of the market.

How do I gauge the performance of my portfolio?
Your portfolio is ranked based on its performance. For example, if you score as an "aggressive investor" your portfolio is tagged to every aggressive investor on Financialjoe. If there are 500,000 aggressive investors your account will be ranked based upon its daily performance. You might be ranked 300,000 today, but tomorrow you could be ranked 250,000. Each day at the close of the stock market you can see your updated ranking. You can also choose to compare your portfolio against other’s for a side-by-side comparison.

How often will my account update and my ranking change? Your account will update every day at the close of the stock market, although mutual funds can take longer to update than stocks.  We rely upon a third party vendor for the data that we receive. The normal data drop for mutual funds is around 7:30pm Eastern Time.

What is the standard used in ranking a portfolio?
We rank portfolios on the YTD ("Year To Date") performance of the positions in the portfolio. Even though the date you enter the positions may show in February, June, or November, the portfolio will revert back to the first day of the year that the market was open.

How do I change my password?
Sign into your account. On your homepage located on the bottom left you will see your profile box. Click "edit:" to open up your options.  You will see several tabs. Click on "Password and Statistics" then change your password. The other tabs such as "Avatar" will allow you to upload  a picture to personalize your page. The "Email" tab allows you to change your private email, or post a public one. Explore the other tabs to see many more options. Oh, don’t forget to click update, and or save.

Do I have to use my real name?
No, you can choose any name you want. You never have to worry about your advisor or anyone else knowing who you are. But you can use your real name if you want too.

How do I monitor other financial advisors?
Simple! Just search the Financialjoe database - find the advisor - then click on "Add this advisor to My Advisor List."

Will my real investment account be exposed?
No! Finanicaljoe does not allow you to link your real investment account to the site. Your identity, assets, and hard work are too valuable for us to ask you to expose them to a potential breach.

Do I really buy and sell positions on the site?
No, you don't!  Your positions are manually entered by you by simply inputting the symbols and quantity. The purchase will automatically update at the close of the market and we'll tabulate the rest! Nothing is purchased, it's simply tracked.

What if I can't find my advisor in your database?
You can add them! The best way to add your advisors information is to use your brokerage statement. The statement should have your advisors full name, address, and the company name he or she works for.

I can't find the symbols for the mutual funds in my 401k. What do I do?
You can use Yahoo Finance to search for the symbols. Simply click the link below and type the name of the mutual fund into Yahoo's symbol search. Then write them down and enter them into your Financialjoe portfolio. http://finance.yahoo.com/lookup?t=M

Can I communicate with other users on the site?
Yes, you can.  Whenever you see another member’s name, you can click on their name, and a link to send them a message will be listed by the member’s picture. You can also post messages on your own forum for others to see or send members a private message.

How accurate is the information on Financialjoe?
